Harmonic Analysis of Tides Using TideHarmonics

چکیده

This document gives a brief introduction on the use of TideHarmonics. The package implements harmonic analysis of tidal and sea-level data. Up to 409 different harmonic tidal constituents can be estimated, and daily nodal corrections are implemented by default.Time-varying mean sea-levels can also be used. Section 1 briefly outlines the theory of harmonic tidal analysis. Example code is contained in Section 2, which gives an application to the freely available hourly sea-level data recorded as part of the Australian Baseline Sea-Level Monitoring Project (ABSLMP). This involves several sites on the coast of Australia, which incorporates a wide range of tidal behaviours. Section 3 gives details on the names used for the tidal harmonics. In particular, we use a different naming scheme to that which has been traditionally used, although both naming schemes can be used for user input.
